Isaac R. Ruiz-Carus is an AV-rated partner in the Tampa Office of Rissman, Barrett, Hurt, Donahue, McLain & Mangan, P.A. He is a trial and appellate attorney who represents clients in high-dollar litigation, arbitration and appeals in state and federal courts throughout the United States. His practice spans a wide variety of practice areas, including business disputes, health care litigation, bet-the-company litigation, intellectual property, product liability, constitutional law, tax and bankruptcy. Isaac thrives on variety, flexibility and creativity in his practice.

On the plaintiff’s side, Isaac has three record jury verdicts in the Florida Verdicts Hall of Fame ranging from $200 million dollars to $1.1 billion dollars. He is a life member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum.

On the defense side, Isaac brings his deep experience as a plaintiff’s attorney to bear in developing creative, outside-the-box litigation tactics. He is a trial lawyer, not a discovery lawyer and accordingly will work with clients in structuring alternative fee arrangements, including result-driven fees.

As an appellate lawyer, Isaac has handled more than 300 separate appeals in all five of Florida’s District Courts of Appeal, the Florida Supreme Court, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals, the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, the Maryland Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court.

Isaac’s corporate work was cited by the 110th Congress, House Committee on Ways and Means, Joint Committee on Taxation in “Present Law and Analysis Relating to Tax Treatment of Partnership Carried Interests and Related Issues, Part I”, (JCX-62-07), Sept. 4, 2007.

While practicing law, Isaac has also served as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Tampa and an Adjunct Professor at Stetson University College of Law teaching Remedies.
